A mirage demon is an evil and intelligent collective of the souls it has consumed. These unusual, undead monsters spawn from the very concept of thirst. They originate with bestial intelligence at best, but when they consume sentient creatures, they begin to gain intelligence and sentience themselves, always malevolent and cruel.
Mirage demons use their illusory capabilities to ambush their prey, an ability that gets more sophisticated as the creature develops. They disguise their lair as a place of safety, such as a palm oasis in the desert, a respite from the wilds, or a dry shelter in a blizzard. Once approached, they drop the illusion, revealing the danger.
