These lean, agile dogs have an uncanny ability to sniff out water sources in the desert. Keshites revere them as literal descendants of the god Ash, who removed his own head to create the first dune hound during Memnon’s Third Revelation. It sprouted a body of its own and went on to aid the Keshite people in their journey to the Tefnut River Delta, multiplying as it went until the resulting hounds could reproduce normally. Worshipers of Ash believe their god can see, simultaneously, out of the eyes of every living dune hound. Dune hounds will always be within the wandering Temple of Ash, and lightning riders and sol stone hunters would not dream of traversing the Catharan without a dune hound to help distinguish a true oasis from a mirage demon.
